Reducing the Risk of Breast Cancer at Work!

Jun 22
1 min read

Breastfeeding is a proven, natural shield against breast cancer. For every 12 months a woman breastfeeds, her risk drops by roughly 4.3% to 11% (Stordal, Cancer Med, 2023). Supporting women to breastfeed at work—through flexible hours, lactation breaks, and dedicated facilities—is critical to helping mothers sustain these long-term, protective health benefits. It is also an employer's duty under the Work Health and Safety legislation, the Fair Work Act 2009 and the Sex Discrimination Act 1984.
